HOW TO DEAL WITH BULLYING

Aside from article advising parents and kids how to deal with bullying, let us discuss specific incidents and the ways by which we should deal with it.

There's this kid who gets bullied by neighbors kids. Aside from the physical shoving and punching, the kid is also abused through written graffiti on the neighborhood brick walls, public humiliation in school, emails, text messages, etc.

What should the parent do?

It is not a good idea to teach retaliation for it will only make things worse. The best way to go about it is to write to the school authorities as well as the local police, meet with them and have them act on it. Take notes during every meeting and phone conversation and properly tag it with the time and date of the meeting. If faced with inaction, write to them again and quote the previous letters and conversations to let the authorities know that their inaction or inability to resolve the matter is being documented. That should push them to act. If needed, send a letter to higher officials and quote in it your previous letters and responses. That should push them to act.

Do not stop until the issue has been resolved.
