Starting a web based school or business?
I regularly sit in a meeting aimed in resolving issues that will give birth to a new joint venture firm. The business will have a web based component that is intended to bring in most of the new company's revenue. For the past couple of weeks, one of the things that we haven't resolved is the choice of a domain name. We've agreed on some only to find out that it has been registered and being offered for a few thousand dollars, something that the partners are unwilling to pay.
In the course of our web search, we also realized that there are existing domains with regular traffic that we can buy and develop further. We now recognize that a strategy like that is one good way to speed things up. There are places in the internet where domain names with existing traffic are being sold. However, one should be careful when buying one. A site may actually be blacklisted by the search engines, have false page ranks, etc.
In discussions along these lines, the most recognizable name is Adam Dicker. A true pioneer in internet domain business, he operates many sites to include dnforum.com, the most serious and popular discussion portal for domains issues and related topics. While this person may be somebody up there, he can actually be consulted regarding these matters. He has started a personal blog wherein people can post questions related to domains and get answers and Domain Name Advice directly from him.
His blog is …. It will launch on April 1 but people can now go there for it is active already. This blog should work well as a PR for my favorite domain name registration portal GoDaddy.com where Dicker serves as a VP. By the way, I have to visit GoDaddy and renew some of my registered domains.
